About this course

BTEC National Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice in Nottingham. Classes run at Nottingham College City Hub, full-time over two years. Students aged 16 to 18 years old do not pay tuition fees. If you are 19 or over, you may still be eligible for funding.

The course covers writing and copywriting, photography, video journalism, digital layout, online media, and social media production. You'll work in professional facilities including a TV studio, and complete live briefs and a work placement. In Year 1 you earn a standalone qualification. Year 2 builds on that to complete the full Extended Diploma.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice.

Who this course is for

This course is perfect if you have a passion for writing or blogging about the things you love, and an interest in social media, digital layout, interview techniques, video and photography.

Entry requirements

You'll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English Language and maths - both of these must be grades 9-4 (A*-C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths, or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and maths GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C).

You'll complete assignments, produce a portfolio of work, and take part in an end-of-year show. A 30-hour work placement is also part of the course.
