About this course

Free Level 2 Hospitality Course. Work-based training at your workplace. This course is funded through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), so fees are covered by your local authority for eligible learners. You train in a real hospitality setting, building skills in areas such as food and beverage service, cookery, housekeeping, front office, or reception work. The course typically takes one to three years to complete. An assessor observes you at work, reviews your portfolio, and confirms your skills at each stage.

Who this course is for

For young people aged 16-25 who have an interest in hospitality and an EHCP. Young people should not have a qualification of the same type, content and level. There are no formal entry requirements. However, a robust assessment process will take place to ensure the young person is on the correct programme of study.

What you will learn

  • You'll develop practical skills in food and beverage service, cookery, housekeeping, or front office work, depending on your chosen focus.
  • You'll learn how to meet customer needs and maintain service standards in a hospitality setting.
  • You'll build knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety as part of your day-to-day work.
  • You'll understand equality and diversity as it applies to working with colleagues and customers.
  • You'll build a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your skills to employers.
  • You'll develop the functional skills in English and maths embedded across the programme.

How you will learn

You learn on the job, in a hospitality workplace. An assessor visits you at work, observes you carrying out tasks, and asks questions to check your understanding. You also build a portfolio of evidence for each unit, showing what you can do. The assessor reviews your portfolio and confirms you have the skills required before signing off each unit. There are no written exams.

What you will need to bring
