Free Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health Course in Huddersfield. Classes run at My Life Team. You'll learn to recognise the signs that someone may be struggling with their mental health, hold supportive conversations, and connect people with the right services. The course runs over 12 hours of daytime classes. To enrol, you need to be a Kirklees resident aged 19 or over, have lived in the UK for 3 or more years, and hold qualifications below Level 2 or have significant barriers to learning. Asylum seekers and refugees who have been in the UK for at least 6 months and are awaiting a status decision are also welcome.
Who this course is for
Understanding what can affect our mental health. Looking at the signs and symptoms of someone who may be struggling with their mental health. Having supportive conversations and signposting to community groups and health
professionals to support with the individual’s personal needs.
Entry requirements
Kirklees resident, aged 19+, resident in the UK for 3+years; or if you are an asylum seeker or refugee you must have been in the UK for 6 months and are yet to have a decision on your status, qualifications below level two or have significant barriers to learning.

How you will learn
Learning takes place in the classroom at My Life Team. You'll take part in group discussions, practical activities, and scenario-based exercises. Assessment is through a short written or multiple-choice test completed during the course. No coursework or exams to take home.
What you will need to bring
The centre will provide most materials. My Life Team will confirm anything else you need before you start.
