Free Level 1 Mental Health Awareness Course in Oldham. Classes run at Oldham Library & Lifelong Learning Centre, part-time during the day. The course is free for eligible learners on a low wage or qualifying benefits. Over 3 weeks, you'll build a solid understanding of mental health, what affects it, and how to respond with awareness and sensitivity. The mental health awareness classes are open to Greater Manchester residents. You'll use Moodle, the centre's online learning platform, alongside classroom sessions, so you'll need a tablet, PC, or laptop with internet access.
Who this course is for
Greater Manchester residents only. This course is ideal for anyone interested in increasing their own understanding of mental health issues. It is useful for those working within the voluntary and community sectors or for people whose role calls for interaction with the general public. The course aims to raise awareness and understanding of ‘mental health’.
Entry requirements
It is recommended that you possess a functional skills English qualification or equivalent and have an interest in the social care field. You will need good ICT Skills an eleCENTREonic tablet, PC or laptop with good internet access to support working on Moodle which is Oldham Lifelong Learning’s virtual learning platform.
What you will learn

How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at Oldham Library & Lifelong Learning Centre, supported by online activities on Moodle. Assessment is through short written tasks and activities that check your understanding of mental health topics. You do not need to sit a formal exam. Your tutor will guide you through the material over the 3-week course.
