Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 in Northallerton. Evening maths classes run at Skipton Adult Learning & Skills Service, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm this is the right level for you. The course covers everyday maths skills including numbers, measures, and handling data. It runs over 18 weeks part-time. A level 1 functional skills maths qualification is a recognised GCSE maths alternative that many employers accept in place of a GCSE grade.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact
What you will learn
You'll work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages in practical contexts.
You'll use and interpret measures including length, weight, capacity, and time.
You'll read and use simple charts, tables, and graphs.
You'll solve problems involving money and everyday calculations.
You'll check and interpret results to make sure they make sense in context.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions one or more evenings a week. Learning is practical and applied, using real-life scenarios to develop your maths skills. Assessment is by a written exam set and marked by City and Guilds. You'll need to pass the exam to earn your certificate.
