To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages in everyday contexts.
  • You'll use measurements and handle units of length, weight, capacity, and time.
  • You'll read, interpret, and draw simple charts, tables, and graphs.
  • You'll solve practical maths problems involving money and real-life calculations.
  • You'll check your own calculations and identify errors.
  • You'll use basic formulas and understand simple ratios and proportion.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions with a tutor. Assessment is by a written external exam set by City and Guilds. You'll also complete an initial assessment before the course starts so the centre can confirm that Level 1 is the right starting point and plan your learning accordingly.
