Free Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Course in Sutton-in-Ashfield. Classes run at High Pavement Learning Centre.

You'll study everyday maths in three areas. The first covers numbers, percentages, fractions, and decimals. The second covers shapes, measurements, and reading basic plans. The third covers charts, averages, and simple probability. City and Guilds assesses the qualification. It's a recognised GCSE maths alternative for adults who don't yet hold a grade 4 or above.

You'll finish with a Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics.

What you will learn

  • You'll calculate lengths, weights, areas, and volumes.
  • You'll read basic plans and use map scales and coordinates.
  • You'll interpret charts and graphs.
  • You'll calculate averages and understand basic probability.
  • You'll practise exam techniques to help you pass your City and Guilds assessment.

How you will learn

Classes run on Wednesday evenings at High Pavement Learning Centre. You'll work through topics in a small group of 5 to 15 learners. You'll complete homework between sessions. Assessment is by a City and Guilds exam. You'll have an initial online assessment before the course starts. The centre uses it to confirm the right level for you and to provide your textbook.

What you will need to bring

Bring your own calculator, pen, and notepad to each session. A textbook will be provided after you complete your initial online assessment.
