About this course

Free Functional Skills Mathematics Level 1 in Grays. Classes run at TCHC Thurrock GAPS Centre. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm Level 1 is the right starting point, and the centre will use it to plan your learning. The course covers using numbers, measures, shape and space, and handling data. It runs for 55 hours and is available to young people aged 16 to 18, and those aged 16 to 24 with an EHCP, who are enrolled on a vocational qualification at a GAPS centre. You must be enrolled on a vocational qualification at the centre to be eligible.

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at TCHC Thurrock GAPS Centre. Assessment includes a calculator exam and a non-calculator exam. Both are taken at the end of the course. Teaching covers the three core areas of the qualification: number, measures and shape, and data handling.
