Free Entry Level 1 English Writing Skills Course in Grays. Classes run at TCHC Thurrock GAPS Centre, full-time during the day. The course runs for 60 hours and covers writing as part of a broader English programme that also includes reading and speaking and listening. You'll have an initial assessment to make sure this is the right level for you. The centre will use it to plan your learning. You must be enrolled on a vocational qualification at one of the GAPS centres to take part.
Who this course is for
Young people aged 16-18 (and 16-24 with an EHCP) who would like to gain a qualification in English.
What you will learn
You'll develop your writing skills for everyday tasks and situations.
You'll practise forming sentences and using basic punctuation.
You'll learn to write simple words and phrases clearly.
You'll build skills in planning and organising short pieces of writing.
You'll gain support with cost-of-living budgeting alongside your English learning.
How you will learn
You'll study in a classroom at TCHC Thurrock GAPS Centre. Learning covers writing, reading, and speaking and listening. Each of the three areas is assessed separately. You'll also have access to careers guidance, mentoring, and coaching throughout the course. Work placement and job shadowing opportunities are available alongside your studies.
