Free Entry Level 3 Functional Skills Maths in Selby. Evening classes run at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm this is the right level for you. The course runs over 18 weeks part-time, covering the maths skills used in everyday life and work. A functional skills maths qualification at this level is a recognised step toward Level 1 and Level 2, which is the GCSE maths equivalent.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact
What you will learn
You'll work with whole numbers, including counting, ordering, and basic calculations.
You'll add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
You'll understand and use simple fractions and percentages in everyday contexts.
You'll read and interpret straightforward charts, tables, and graphs.
You'll measure length, weight, capacity, and time using common units.
You'll handle money, including calculating costs and giving change.
You'll solve practical maths problems drawn from real everyday situations.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service during evening sessions. Teaching covers number, measure, and data handling through practical tasks and worked examples. Assessment is by a formal written test set by City and Guilds. You'll need to pass the test to earn your certificate. Your tutor will track your progress throughout the course and help you prepare for the assessment.
