To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

  • You'll listen and respond in straightforward conversations and discussions.
  • You'll speak clearly enough to be understood in familiar situations.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service, attending evening sessions over 18 weeks. Learning is practical and activity-based, covering real reading, writing, and communication tasks. Assessment is through set tasks that test your reading, writing, and speaking and listening skills. You do not sit a traditional exam; instead, you complete tasks that show what you can do.
