Free Entry Level 3 English Skills course in Northallerton. Classes run at Skipton Adult Learning & Skills Service. Daytime sessions run part-time, so you can fit study around other commitments. Over around 55 hours, you'll build your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. There's no exam: assessment is coursework-based throughout. This entry level english skills course is open to adults aged 19 and over who don't already hold an Entry Level 3 or higher English qualification. You'll have an initial assessment at enrolment to confirm the right level for you.

This course is for people who want to improve their English skills gain a qualification in English without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 3 level or higher qualification.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment
What you will learn
You'll read and understand everyday texts, including letters, forms, and short articles.
You'll write clearly for everyday purposes such as messages, notes, and simple documents.
You'll spell common words correctly and use basic punctuation.
You'll speak clearly and listen carefully in everyday conversations.
You'll follow and give simple instructions and information.
You'll identify the main points in spoken and written material.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Skipton Adult Learning & Skills Service, working through tasks and activities with a tutor. Assessment is portfolio-based: you collect evidence of your work rather than sitting a final exam. There is no timed written exam for this qualification. Your tutor will support you through each piece of evidence.
