Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Maths in Catterick Garrison. Classes run at Catterick Library & Information Centre, part-time during the day, making it easier to fit around other commitments. Over 18 weeks, you'll build your maths skills in practical, everyday contexts. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm Entry Level 2 is the right starting point, and to help plan your learning. This entry level functional skills maths course is a step toward Entry Level 3 and, eventually, the Level 2 qualification that employers recognise as a GCSE maths alternative.

This course is for people who want to improve their Maths skills and who currently, do not hold a current Entry Level 2 or higher qualification
Entry requirements
To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact
What you will learn
You'll use whole numbers to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in everyday situations.
You'll work with simple fractions and recognise common fractions such as a half and a quarter.
You'll handle money, including giving change and working out simple totals.
You'll read and use information from simple charts, tables, and lists.
You'll measure length, weight, capacity, and time using standard units.
You'll understand and use simple number patterns and sequences.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Catterick Library & Information Centre, with a tutor guiding you through each topic. Assessment is through a formal written test set by City and Guilds. You'll work through tasks and practice questions during classes to prepare. Your tutor will track your progress and let you know when you're ready to sit the test.
