About this course

Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills English in Scarborough. Classes run at Scarborough Adult Learning and Skills Service, part-time during the day, over 18 weeks. This course is for people who want to improve their English skills and who currently, do not hold a current Entry Level 2 or higher qualification

Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll write simple sentences using basic punctuation and spelling.
  • You'll fill in forms and write short notes for everyday purposes.
  • You'll listen and respond in straightforward conversations.

  • You'll identify the main points in short spoken and written material.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Scarborough Adult Learning and Skills Service, with a tutor guiding each session. Assessment is through tasks and activities that reflect everyday English use, covering reading, writing, speaking, and listening. There is no written exam in the traditional sense; you'll be assessed on set tasks that demonstrate your skills at Entry Level 2.
