To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll read and understand short, simple texts
  • You'll write simple words, sentences, and short messages
  • You'll use basic punctuation and spelling in your writing
  • You'll listen to and follow simple spoken instructions
  • You'll speak clearly to communicate basic information
  • You'll identify key information in everyday documents such as signs, forms, and notices

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Harrogate Civic Centre with a tutor. Sessions are in the evening and run over 18 weeks part-time. You'll be assessed through tasks and activities that reflect real reading, writing, speaking, and listening situations. Assessment is set and marked against the City and Guilds Entry Level 1 standard.
