About this course

Free ESOL Skills for Life: Speaking and Listening Course. Study online. You can study at your own pace, fitting learning around your daily life without travelling to a centre. Over 22 weeks, you'll develop your spoken English and listening skills for everyday situations and work. You'll also build your understanding of English grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. An initial assessment will confirm that Level 1 is the right starting point for you. This is a free ESOL Skills for Life: Speaking and Listening qualification for adults aged 19 and over.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

How you will learn

You'll study online, working through materials at your own pace. Assessment for the City and Guilds Level 1 Award in ESOL Skills for Life (Speaking and Listening) is through speaking and listening tasks. These assess your ability to communicate in English in real situations. You will be assessed on your spoken responses and your ability to listen and respond appropriately.
