About this course

ESOL Skills for Life: Speaking and Listening classes in Telford. Classes run at Learn Telford, with start dates throughout the year. The course runs part-time during the day over 17 weeks, so you can fit study around other commitments. It focuses on spoken English: listening, understanding, and speaking clearly in everyday situations. You'll have a short assessment before you start to confirm the right level for you. There are no formal entry requirements. This is a free english for speakers of other languages course, open to adults aged 19 and over who meet the funding criteria.

It has various levels, from complete beginner to more advanced, so you can learn at a level that is suitable for you. You can take courses in reading, speaking and listening and writing with Learn Telford.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. You'll have a short assessment before you start to see which is the right level of course for you

The course is free if you are: Unemployed or you are employed and earn less than £25,750 annual gross salary

Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August of the Academic Year for which they are enrolling

How you will learn

Classes are classroom based and run during the day. You'll learn through speaking and listening activities, group discussions, and practical exercises. Assessment is through observed speaking and listening tasks rather than written exams. Your tutor will assess your spoken English directly as part of classroom activities.
