About this course

Free Teaching Assistant Level 2 Course in Nottingham. Evening classes run at Basford, on Tuesday evenings from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, so you can fit study around your existing commitments. You'll need to be 19 or over, hold Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1 (or GCSE grade 3 or above), and complete a 6-week introduction course first. The course runs for 27 weeks and includes at least 12 hours of weekly volunteering in a school or learning environment. You'll cover child development, safeguarding, communication, and equality and inclusion.

Entry requirements

You must be aged19 or over and have Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1 or higher or GCSE grade 3 or higher. You must also have successfully completion of the 6-week introduction course which starts in September.

Assessment is through a mix of coursework and evidence gathered from your placement. You'll build a portfolio showing what you've done and learned in your volunteering role.

The centre will provide most materials. Basford will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need to arrange a volunteering placement in a school or teaching and learning environment, as at least 12 hours per week of placement is a course requirement.
