About this course

Level 4 IQA Course in Warminster. Classes run at Land Warfare Centre, daytime on a flexible schedule over 12 months. This City and Guilds IQA qualification is for people who assess others in a work-based setting and want to quality-assure that assessment. You'll develop skills in monitoring and supporting assessors, sampling assessment decisions, and maintaining quality standards. You need to be 19 or over, and you should hold or be working toward a Level 3 qualification in your subject area, or have relevant experience.

Who this course is for

This is an introductory course for people who are skilled and qualified in a work related area and want to learn to teach or train others. Known as a 'Gateway' course, it won't equip you to be a fully qualified teacher or trainer, but it is the first step to accessing higher level courses that will do so.

Entry requirements

You need to be 19 years or over. You should have achieved or be aiming to achieve a qualification at NVQ level 3 and/or have experience in the subject/skill you wish to teach.

What you will learn

  • You'll understand the principles and practices of internal quality assurance in assessment.
  • You'll plan and carry out monitoring activities with assessors.
  • You'll sample assessment decisions and provide constructive feedback.
  • You'll maintain accurate records of internal quality assurance activity.
  • You'll support assessors to improve their practice.
  • You'll understand the requirements of external quality assurance and awarding organisations.

How you will learn

You'll attend daytime classes at Land Warfare Centre on a flexible timetable across 12 months. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence drawn from your real quality assurance practice. You'll gather records, observation reports, and reflective accounts that demonstrate your competence as an internal quality assurer. The centre will confirm the full assessment requirements before you start.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Land Warfare Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start.
