About this course

Level 4 IQA Course in Tidworth. Classes run at Mooltan Barracks, daytime and flexible over 12 months. This City and Guilds iqa qualification is for people who assess others in a work-based setting and want to quality-assure that assessment. You'll learn how to monitor and support assessors, maintain assessment standards, and manage internal quality assurance processes. Entry is open to those aged 19 or over who hold or are working toward a Level 3 qualification, or who have relevant occupational experience. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm the course is the right fit.

Who this course is for

This is an introductory course for people who are skilled and qualified in a work related area and want to learn to teach or train others. Known as a 'Gateway' course, it won't equip you to be a fully qualified teacher or trainer, but it is the first step to accessing higher level courses that will do so.

Entry requirements

You need to be 19 years or over. You should have achieved or be aiming to achieve a qualification at NVQ level 3 and/or have experience in the subject/skill you wish to teach.

What you will learn

  • You'll understand the principles and practices of internal quality assurance.
  • You'll learn how to plan and carry out monitoring of assessors' practice.
  • You'll develop skills in giving feedback to assessors to improve their performance.
  • You'll learn how to maintain accurate records of internal quality assurance activity.
  • You'll understand how to manage risks to the quality of assessment.
  • You'll learn how to prepare for and support external quality assurance visits.

How you will learn

You'll attend daytime classes at Mooltan Barracks on a flexible schedule across 12 months. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence drawn from your real workplace practice, showing how you plan, carry out, and evaluate internal quality assurance activities. You may also complete written assignments and professional discussions with your assessor.
