About this course

Level 3 Beauty Therapy Treatments Course in Bournemouth. Classes run at Bournemouth and Poole College Bournemouth Campus, full-time during the day. You'll need a relevant Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification, at least 5 GCSEs including English, Maths and Science at grades 9 to 4 (or Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths), plus a practical trade test. The course takes one year and covers treatments from body massage and facial electrotherapy to stone therapy and Indian head massage. You'll also develop business awareness and client care skills.

Who this course is for

This advanced course is an excellent progression from a Level 2 or equivalent beauty therapy qualification. You will improve your beauty therapy skills on both a practical and academic level during this course, as well as expanding and developing your business awareness. This is a full-time programme.

Entry requirements

Sucessful completion of a relevant Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification and a minimum of 5 GCSEs including English, Maths and Science at grades 9-4 (formerly A*-C) or a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and Maths.

In addition to the qualifications, you will be required to complete and pass a practical trade test.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based practical lessons, working on treatments with fellow students before progressing to paying clients in the college salon. Assessment includes assignments, case studies on external clients, external theory examinations, and final practical examinations. You'll also complete a minimum of 45 to 60 days of work experience in a local beauty salon or spa, typically one day per week plus up to a two-week block placement.
