About this course

Level 3 Assessor Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You train while working in your current role, assessing candidates who are working toward recognised occupational qualifications. You'll attend two to four training sessions to build your knowledge of assessment principles and best practice. The course takes around 360 hours in total. To enrol, you need at least two years of occupational experience in your field and access to two or three candidates you can assess. This is a Pearson Edexcel level 3 assessor qualification for people new to assessing.

Who this course is for

This qualification is for those new to assessing and will enable them to gain the knowledge and understanding of assessment principles and practices and assess occupational competence against recognised occupational qualifications within an individual’s work environment. To achieve the certificate you will attend 2 – 4 training sessions which will develop your knowledge and understanding of best practices in assessment after assessment you will have acquired the skills to become an assessor. You will need to produce a portfolio which will be submitted for internal and external verification. Your portfolio will l include the following; Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment; Assess Occupational Competence in the Working Environment; Assess vocational skills, knowledge and Understanding

Entry requirements

Must be employed or in a voluntary position and have access to 2 - 3 candidates working towards a relevant occupational qualification. Minimum of 2 years occupational experience and a high level of literacy

How you will learn

You learn on the job, assessing candidates in your workplace. You'll attend two to four training sessions that cover assessment knowledge and best practice. Assessment is through observed practice with your candidates, professional discussion, and a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your competence as an assessor.
