About this course

Level 3 Assessor Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You assess learners in a workshop, classroom, or similar training environment. The course costs £400 per delegate.

You'll attend two or three training sessions to build your knowledge. Then you'll put together a portfolio of evidence. Around 360 hours of study are involved in total. You'll need at least two years of occupational experience to join.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement.

Who this course is for

This qualification is for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (eg a workshop, classroom or other training environment).To achieve the award you will attend 2 - 3 training sessions which will develop your knowledge and provide you with the skills to become an assessor. You will need to produce a portfolio of evidence which will be submitted for internal and external verification. Learners who achieve this qualification have a wide range of qualification progression opportunities, for example the teaching in the lifelong learning sector suite of qualifications: Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS), the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) and the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).

Entry requirements

Must be employed or in a voluntary position and have acce4ss to 2 - 3 candidates working towards a relevant occupational qualification. Must have a minium of 2 years occupational experience and a high level of literacy

How you will learn

You'll attend two or three taught training sessions. Between sessions, you'll gather evidence from your own assessing practice. This evidence goes into a portfolio, which is submitted for internal and external verification. Assessment is based on that portfolio rather than a written exam.
