About this course

Level 2 Plant Operations (Construction) Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You train on the job, operating plant machinery in a real construction environment, supported by your employer. This course is a standalone plant operations (construction) qualification and also meets the mandatory requirement for operators progressing from a CPCS or NPORS/CSCS Red Trained Operators Card to the Blue Competence Card. The course runs for approximately 205 hours. You must be physically able to operate the relevant plant machine and demonstrate a safe, responsible approach throughout.

Who this course is for

This is a stand alone qualification or a mandatory requirement for learners progressing from the CPCS or NPORS/CSCS Red Trained Operators Card to the Blue Competence Card.

Entry requirements

Learners must be physically able and demonstrate a safe and responsible approach to operating the relevant plant machine(s).

What you will learn

  • You'll operate construction plant machinery safely and responsibly.
  • You'll follow health, safety, and environmental requirements on site.
  • You'll carry out pre-use checks and basic maintenance on plant equipment.
  • You'll position and manoeuvre plant machinery to meet task requirements.
  • You'll work within site instructions and comply with relevant regulations.
  • You'll demonstrate competence across the plant operations relevant to your job role.

How you will learn

Assessment is work-based. You'll be observed operating plant machinery in your workplace by an assessor, who will judge your competence against the NVQ standards. You may also be asked questions to confirm your knowledge and understanding. Evidence is gathered on the job over the course of your training, so your day-to-day work forms the basis of your assessment.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Keith Cook Training Springfield Farm will confirm anything else you need before you start.
