Who this course is for

Level 1 Functional Skills in English delivered as part of an apprenticeship programme. This is the minimum English level required as part of the apprenticeship programme, Learners are able to claim exemption if a suitable qualification has already been achieved. As part of the Functional Skill Speaking and Listening assessments will be carried out where the student takes part in discussions at level 1 in a group of 3-5, this will be formal and informal discussions and is assessed as part of the criteria for the qualification.

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at Floorskills Training Centre on a day or block release basis. Assessment includes a written exam covering reading and writing, plus a speaking and listening assessment. The speaking and listening component is assessed through group discussions of three to five people, covering both formal and informal scenarios. These are assessed as part of the qualification.
