About this course

GCSE English Language Course in Ripon. Classes run at Ripon Grammar School, full-time over two years. The course is free if you are 16 to 18 years old. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply.

This qualification is available as a resit opportunity. You will develop reading, writing, and spoken language skills across a wide range of texts. Paper 1 focuses on creative reading and writing. Paper 2 looks at how writers present viewpoints and perspectives across different time periods. Entry requires a minimum of six B grades at GCSE or equivalent.

You will finish with a GCSE in English Language.

This Level 2 qualification fulfils the purposes defined by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). This course is available as a resit opportunity.

How you will learn

The course is classroom based, with full-time daytime attendance. Assessment is by two written exams. Paper 1 covers creative reading and writing. Paper 2 covers writers' viewpoints and perspectives. There is also an endorsed spoken language component, assessed separately. No coursework contributes to the final grade. AQA sets and marks the exams.
