To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including counting, ordering, and simple calculations.
  • You'll add and subtract two-digit numbers in everyday contexts.
  • You'll handle money, including giving change and working out simple totals.
  • You'll read and use simple measurements, such as length, weight, and time.
  • You'll interpret straightforward data from charts, tables, and lists.
  • You'll solve practical maths problems you might meet at home or at work.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions at Ripon Community House Ripon, with a tutor guiding you through each topic. Learning is activity-based, using everyday examples to practise number skills. Assessment is through a formal City and Guilds test, which you'll take when you're ready. Your tutor will track your progress throughout the course to help you prepare.
