Free Level 3 Sport and Physical Activity Course in Oldham. Classes run at Oldham Sixth Form College, full-time over two years.

You'll study anatomy and physiology, sports coaching, leadership, and sports development. The course covers how the body responds to exercise, practical coaching skills across a range of sports, and performance analysis of individuals and teams. You'll also plan and deliver a sporting event as part of a team.

You'll need at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths at grade 5 or above. You'll finish with an OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Sport and Physical Activity.

Who this course is for

Our Sport & Physical Activity course is your opportunity to use your passion for all things sport in order to develop a diverse and unique skillset. In covering a range of units you’ll be immersed in the sports industry and the varied disciplines and roles available. You’ll develop your understanding of coaching and improve your practical skills in a variety of sports, you’ll learn how the body systems respond to exercise in anatomy & physiology, and develop understanding of the entire industry in sports development. You’ll also undertake detailed performance analysis of individuals and teams, and work as part of a team to plan and deliver your own sporting event.

No prior knowledge is required, simply bring your interest in sport and a desire to succeed!

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 passes (grade 4 or above) at GCSE, including in both English and Grade 5 in Maths (not including Level 2 vocational qualifications).

The course is assessed through a mix of examined units and coursework. Two units are externally examined. Three units are completed through coursework. Classes are delivered in person at Oldham Sixth Form College during the day.
