About this course

Free Level 3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Course in Gateshead. Classes run at Gateshead College Baltic Campus, full-time during the day, over one year. You'll develop the skills to supervise and lead teams in hotels, restaurants, visitor attractions, and other hospitality settings. The course covers areas such as managing staff, maintaining service standards, and handling day-to-day operational responsibilities. You'll need a good GCSE profile (grade 4/C or above in four subjects) or relevant experience in catering or food service. Mature candidates with relevant work experience are welcome to apply.

Who this course is for

The hospitality industry is a fast growing sector in the North East, so job opportunities are good. Businesses such as hotels, restaurants and visitor attractions are all looking for staff who have the ability to manage and supervise: there is a recognition in the industry that many staff need opportunities for more formal training in order to progress to a management role.

The NVQ qualification is designed to improve your employability and help you demonstrate your current skills by achieving a nationally recognised qualification.

If you are already employed in the industry, you can complete the core modules of the programme by committing to one afternoon per week at college and gain the remaining evidence needed from your workplace. If you would like to study this course full time you can gain work experience in the College's Greenhouse or our student restaurant, Enfields Kitchen. You will also get the opportunity to manage events, supervise, mentor and advise learners on Level 1 and 2 programmes.

You'll take part in a group project such as organising a charity event or black tie dinner. You'll also have the chance to manage, supervise and mentor a variety of events such as product launches, weddings, business lunches as well as to supervise service in our student-run restaurant Enfields Kitchen

You'll also have the opportunity to take part in work experience.

If you need to improve your maths or English qualifications, we will support you with that.
