About this course

Free Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer EPA Course. Work-based training at your workplace. This is the end-point assessment for the Community Sport and Health Officer apprenticeship. You train on the job, managing community sport projects while you earn. The role focuses on project management and stakeholder engagement rather than coaching. You'll learn to identify community needs, set up sporting events, promote participation and inclusion, and write funding bids. The course typically takes 18 months.

Who this course is for

This apprenticeship is intended for higher level project management when setting up and managing ongoing community projects. The career is all about identifying needs within communities and working with them to set up sporting events that tackle issues around participation and inclusion.

This is less about coaching and more about management within the sporting sector. You will not only learn about setting up sporting events, you also learn how to engage with stakeholders and write funding bids to pay for the projects you are setting up.

What you will learn

  • You'll plan and manage community sport and health projects from start to finish.
  • You'll identify participation and inclusion needs within local communities.
  • You'll organise sporting events that address those needs.
  • You'll engage with stakeholders including funders, local organisations, and community groups.
  • You'll write funding bids to secure resources for community projects.
  • You'll develop skills in project monitoring, reporting, and evaluation.

How you will learn

This is a work-based apprenticeship. You learn through your day-to-day role, applying project management and community engagement skills in a real work setting. The end-point assessment (EPA) tests the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you've built throughout the apprenticeship. Assessment methods are confirmed by your employer and training provider at the start of your programme.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. The Vocational Academy will confirm anything else you need before you start.
