Free Level 2 Sport and Physical Activity Course in Leigh. Classes run at Wigan and Leigh College Leigh Campus, full-time during the day, over 35 weeks. You'll need a minimum of five GCSEs graded 9 to 3, including maths or English, to join. The course covers the sporting infrastructure from grassroots to elite level, alongside coaching, officiating, and performance. You'll have access to Leigh Sports Village, including a swimming pool, gymnasium, athletics stadium, and more.

Whether you want to enhance your sporting expertise, maximise your coaching ability, or improve your officiating skills, we can help you at our Centre of Excellence in Sport. You will develop an understanding of the sporting infrastructure from grassroots through to elite level and what makes the UK one of the top sporting nations in the world. You will have access to a multimillion pound sporting complex at Leigh Sports Village, which includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, athletics stadium and 3G AstroTurf pitches. You will be encouraged to lead an active and healthy life and get involved in our sports teams, whether your interests are in football or rugby. We have enjoyed huge success in both our mens and womens teams and we would be delighted to welcome you to join us. This is a new and exciting course which has been specially designed for those students who are interested in sports development, coaching and fitness. Practical assessment includes leading, planning and heading sports activities.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 or equivalent including maths or English.

How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom sessions and practical activity at Leigh Sports Village. Assessment is through a combination of coursework assignments and practical tasks. You'll complete units covering coaching, officiating, and sports science topics. Some units may include observations of your practical performance. Your work is assessed by tutors at the centre.

The centre will provide most materials. Wigan and Leigh College Leigh Campus will confirm anything else you need before you start. You should expect to wear appropriate sportswear for practical sessions.
