About this course

Level 3 Art and Design Course in Hastings. Classes run full-time at East Sussex College Hastings Station Plaza Campus. The course costs £3,345. You may also need to budget for materials such as sketchbooks, paints and brushes, plus optional trips and visits. Over two years, you'll explore disciplines including graphic design, illustration, fashion and fine art, developing your own creative voice and building a portfolio. You'll work with industry software including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere Pro in on-site Mac Suites, alongside practical work in clay, glass, metal and textiles. Entry requires a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 to 9, including English or maths at grade 4, plus a portfolio.

Who this course is for

This course enables you to establish a practice and individual specialism through briefs, work experience and dynamic projects, cultivating an extensive portolio. Develop your analytical skills by undertaking research to give context to your work. Explore disciplines including graphic design, illustration, fashion, and fine art, building on skills and experimenting with further techniques in clay, glass, metal and textiles. We have several Mac Suites with a range of industry software including, PhotoShop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premier Pro.

Entry requirements

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English or maths at grade 4. A portfolio of work will be required.

How you will learn

You'll complete nine projects in year one and six projects in year two. Projects combine practical work, coursework and research. Your overall grade is determined by your achievements in the final projects at the end of each year. Teaching takes place in a professional studio and workshop, with regular guidance from tutors.
