Who this course is for

Our Health and Health Sciences Access course prepares you for degree-level study in a variety of Health profession degree courses, such as nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, physiotherapy, radiography, occupational therapy and other allied health professions. You will study a variety of mostly biology based units, such as Human Cardiopulmonary Systems, Cell Biology, Reproductive Biology and while developing your research skills through the Academic Study Skills and Independent Academic Study units.

Entry requirements

GCSE English at grade C / 4 is required (or Functional Skills Level 2 English). GCSE Maths at grade C / 4 (or equivalent) is desirable depending on the degree you wish to progress on to, but can be studied alongside the Access diploma if necessary. All candidates are expected to attend a Taster Day before receiving a firm offer for a place on the Access course.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions across three semesters. The course combines taught biology and science units with academic skills development. Assessment is through coursework, assignments, and graded unit work that meets the requirements of the Access to HE Diploma. Classes run on selected weekday mornings and afternoons at the Hastings site.
