Free Level 2 Site Carpentry Course in Swadlincote. Classes run full-time at Stephen Burke Academy. You'll cover first fix and second fix carpentry, structural carcassing, and building maintenance, alongside theory including health and safety, circular saw use, and building calculations. The course takes one year. Entry requires a minimum of four GCSEs at grade D or above, or Level 1 Functional Skills in English and maths; an interview and initial assessment are also part of the process.
Who this course is for
You will develop the skills and knowledge to perform all aspects of site carpentry work, including first fix, second fix, structural carcassing and the carrying out of building maintenance. In addition to practical work, you will study theory subjects, which will include health and safety in the workplace, circular saws (types of, uses and maintenance) and building theory (calculations, communication and technical drawing).
Entry requirements
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above (if this does not include English and maths these MUST be studied as part of the Level 2 programme) or Level 1 Functional Skills equivalent in English and maths; successful interview and initial assessment; successful completion of Level 1 programme (progressing learners).
