Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolement You must have basic IT skills

What you will learn

  • You'll explore a range of common mental health conditions and their symptoms.
  • You'll learn how stigma affects people with mental health conditions and how to challenge it.
  • You'll identify ways to support someone experiencing a mental health difficulty.
  • You'll recognise when and how to signpost people to professional help.
  • You'll develop awareness of your own mental health and wellbeing.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions one or more evenings a week at Ripon Community House Ripon. Teaching combines tutor-led discussion, group activities, and guided study. Assessment is through written assignments or knowledge-based tasks that you complete during and between sessions. There are no exams.

The centre will provide most materials. Ripon Community House Ripon will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need basic IT skills to access any online elements of the course.
