Free Level 2 Maths Course in Scarborough. Classes run at Scarborough Adult Learning and Skills Service, with daytime sessions designed to fit around other commitments. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm the City and Guilds Certificate in Mathematics Skills is the right level for you. The course runs over 55 hours part-time and covers the maths skills employers look for. Importantly, this is a non-exam route to a level 2 maths qualification, assessed through coursework rather than a written exam.
Who this course is for
This course is for people who want to improve their Maths skills and gain a qualification in Maths without having to take an exam.You must not have a current level 2 or higher qualification.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at
What you will learn
You'll work with numbers, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
You'll interpret and use data presented in tables, charts, and graphs.
You'll solve problems involving ratio, proportion, and scale.
You'll apply maths to everyday situations such as money, measurement, and time.
You'll develop your understanding of shape, space, and basic geometry.
You'll build accuracy in written and mental calculation.
How you will learn
Classes are classroom based and run part-time during the day. Assessment is through coursework and portfolio evidence rather than a formal exam. You'll complete tasks and assignments that show your skills across the different areas of the qualification. There is no end exam for this course.
