About this course

Free Level 2 Joinery Course in Bristol. Classes run full-time at College Green Centre, five days a week during the day. The course takes one year to complete. You'll develop the practical joinery skills that employers in the construction industry look for, covering woodworking techniques, materials, and site-based tasks. A level 2 joinery qualification is a solid step toward a career as a carpenter or joiner. Entry requirements include at least three GCSEs at grade D or above, including English and Maths, plus an initial assessment at the centre.

Who this course is for

Our apprenticeships give learners industry recognised qualifications and the practical skills they need to become successful employees in the trade. Throughout the two year apprenticeship, your trainee will learn job specific skills whilst working with you and also obtain training at the college. You will need to employ them and they must receive the national minimum wage of 3.30 per hour.

Entry requirements

Prospective applicants should;----Possess a range of qualifications which should include at least 3 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English Language and Maths--Achieve a level 1 or above in an initial assessment test, provided by the college--Have a strong commitment to working with you and our college assessor.--A good record of attendance at school or college--Demonstrate a high degree of enthusiasm and a guarantee to succeed and prepare effectively for employment--

  • You'll develop skills in fitting doors, windows, floors, and staircases.
  • You'll understand the properties of different wood and timber-based materials.
  • You'll follow health and safety regulations on construction sites.
  • You'll read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • You'll apply finishing techniques including sanding and sealing.
  • You'll work to industry standards for measuring, marking out, and setting out joinery components.

How you will learn

You'll learn through practical, hands-on sessions in the workshop alongside classroom-based study. Assessment is through a combination of observed practical tasks, a portfolio of work, and written or oral questioning. Your assessor will observe you carrying out joinery tasks and review evidence of your work throughout the year.
