About this course

Free Level 2 Electrical Installation Course in Castleford. Classes run full-time during the day at Castleford College. This free electrical installation course runs over one year and covers the core knowledge and practical skills needed to work in electrical installation. You'll study wiring systems, electrical science, health and safety, and industry regulations. To apply, you'll need four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, Maths and Science, or GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above plus a Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation. Who this course is for

Electricians work on both construction and maintenance schemes. On construction schemes, Electricians follow architects plans to install new electrical equipment to domestic, commercial, and industrial developments. On maintenance schemes, Electricians fix and upgrade existing electrical systems and repair equipment in both domestic and business property. This can include, installing/ re wiring lighting or power circuits; installing new consumer units installing new sockets and lights.

This is an ideal course for those who are looking to learn on a full-time basis and have identified that they want to enter the construction/maintenance sector and have a career as an electrician.

The Level 2 programme is delivered as a transition to the T Level programme or the Level 3 Technical Diplomaand with this further Maths and English study is mandatory to support progression to the T Level.

Learners progress to Level 3 study either as a full-time learner or as an apprentice.

On an electrical installation study programme, you will learn through classroom teaching and activity incorporating IT access. The College has designated electrical installation workshops and through practical activity, you will develop your installation skills.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including GCSE English, Maths and Science. OR GCSE English and Maths at Grade 9 4 with Level 1 Diploma Electrical Installation.

All learners will be required to complete a BKSB assessment.
