About this course

Level 2 Diploma Plumbing Course in Leicester. Evening diploma plumbing classes run at Leicester College Freemen's Park Campus, on two evenings a week from 5:30pm to 9:00pm. The course runs over 36 weeks and fits around existing daytime commitments. You'll study ten units covering health and safety, cold water systems, domestic hot water systems, central heating systems, drainage, sanitation, and electrical and scientific principles for plumbing. Theory is taught in classrooms and practical skills are developed in dedicated workshops. Entry requires a GCSE in English and maths at grade 3 or above, plus one reference. This level 2 diploma plumbing qualification is a stepping stone toward the NVQ Level 2 needed to be recognised as a qualified tradesperson.

Who this course is for

This is a challenging and rewarding Level 2 one year course for adults (19+) who are seeking employment in the plumbing industry. The course is a stepping stone to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 2 which is the required level to be recognised as a qualified tradesperson. To complete the route to industry certification, you will complete this course and can then top up to an NVQ level 2 diploma through additional training. To do this you need to be able to gain work experience with a qualified professional who can oversee your work.

The course runs in two groups based on numbers. One group attends on a Tuesday and Wednesday, and the other on a Wednesday and Thursday.

Entry requirements

Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 3 (D) or above is required. Basic maths will be required in the form of measuring and marking out, plus working with formula in order to perform associated calculations. Candidates will be required to compile a portfolio of evidence. All applicants will be required to complete an initial assessment to determine suitability for this course.
