About this course

Level 2 Plumbing Studies Course in Leicester. Classes run at Leicester College Freemen's Park Campus, full-time during the day. This plumbing studies course runs for one year, with classes from 8:30am to 4:30pm. You'll cover ten units including cold water systems, central heating, drainage, sanitation, and the scientific and electrical principles behind plumbing. The course is designed for people starting out in plumbing, and it's a strong step toward an apprenticeship or entry-level work in building services engineering. It won't qualify you as a fully qualified plumber, but it gives you the foundation to get there.

Who this course is for

Our plumbing course is part of the Education Programme for Young People (EPYP). It's for school leavers and anyone under 19.

This course is for students interested in plumbing careers in building services engineering. Keep in mind that this qualification wont make you a fully qualified plumber. It helps you learn and practice skills for jobs or apprenticeships in plumbing.

In this course, if you didn't get a grade 4 or higher, you can retake your GCSES. You can also choose to take Functional Skills in English and maths.

You will also take part in activities that build personal skills like character and confidence. These skills are key for living well and advancing your career. If you're 16 to 19 years old, these activities will fit into your weekly schedule. You will also get work experience or a placement during your studies. Plus, you can join other enrichment activities at the college.

What you will learn

  • You'll learn health and safety practices in building services engineering.
  • You'll study electrical principles relevant to plumbing systems.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions and hands-on practical work at Leicester College Freemen's Park Campus. The course includes work experience or a placement alongside your studies. You'll also have the opportunity to retake GCSEs or take Functional Skills in English and maths if needed. Assessment is through the units set by City and Guilds across the ten areas of the qualification.
