A strong foundation for anyone pursuing level 2 diploma hairdressing classes and a career in the salon industry.

Who this course is for

Are you creative? Do you keep an eye on fashion trends and love talking to people? Then a full-time Hairdressing course at Heart of England Training could be for you. Unlike many other training providers and colleges, you will be learning at one of our commercial training salons and working on real paying clients. This will give you invaluable real salon experience alongside building-up your practical and theoretical knowledge so – when the time comes for you to enter the world of work – your CV will stand-out from the crowd who may have no actual salon experience.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, if you do not hold a GCSE grade C/4 in English and Maths, we will incorporate English and/or Maths functional skills or GCSEs into your training.

What you will learn

  • You'll cut and style hair using professional techniques on real clients.
  • You'll apply colouring and lightening treatments safely and accurately.
  • You'll shampoo, condition, and treat the scalp and hair.
  • You'll style and finish hair using a range of tools and products.
  • You'll carry out consultation and client communication skills.
  • You'll follow health, safety, and hygiene standards in a salon environment.
  • You'll use professional-grade products and understand their application.

How you will learn

You'll learn through hands-on practical work in a commercial training salon, working with paying clients. Classroom sessions cover the underpinning theory. Assessment combines practical observations, where your tutor watches you carry out salon services, with written or online knowledge tests. You'll build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course. Tutors with industry backgrounds provide one-to-one support.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Rugby Hair & Beauty Academy will confirm anything else you need before you start.
