Over 12 weeks, you'll cover what dementia is, how it progresses, and how to support people living with it. Topics include person-centred care, positive communication, and understanding individual needs at different stages. This free dementia care course suits people with little or no previous experience, as well as those already involved in care who want a formal dementia care qualification.

The programme is suitable for those who desire to form a foundation due to little or no previous experience of dementia care and the course may also be suitable for anyone who is involved in caring for an individual with dementia in their personal life.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding, you must live in England and have resided in the UK or EU/EEA for the last 3 years, must be aged 19 or over, must not have previously studied the course you are applying for or another similar course and must not currently be enrolled on another government-funded education programme. If you are aged between 19 and 23 - you must hold a full level 2 qualification If you're not eligible for funding, you can purchase the course online if you are over the age of 16.

How you will learn

All study and assessment takes place online. You'll work through online learning materials at your own pace and complete an online assessment. On completion, you'll receive a digital e-certificate from TQUK. Support from tutors is available throughout the course.
