About this course

Level 2 Counselling Course in York. Classes run at The Centre at Burnholme, blending online study with daytime sessions at the centre. Fee reductions are available for this course. Learners outside the York and North Yorkshire area may not be eligible for funded places. Over 30 weeks, you'll develop practical counselling skills and techniques you can apply in helping and supportive roles across health, education, and community settings. Completing this level 2 counselling qualification does not give you qualified counsellor status, but it builds a strong foundation for further study.

Who this course is for

This course will increase your confidence and competence in the understanding and application of counselling skills to help others, in a wider helping role (either in a voluntary or employed capacity). On completion of the course, you will not have a qualified counsellor status (this will involve further study and experience) but it will provide you with some useful tools and techniques that can be applied in a helping / supportive role in various settings e.g. health, education, community, youth, and social work. Upon completion of the 7 mandatory units, you will be able to listen to and support others safely and professionally. You are required to complete an electronic portfolio of work to gain the full qualification.
