About this course

Free Level 2 Bricklaying Course in Warwick. Classes run at Moreton Morrell College, full-time during the day. The course builds on Level 1 skills through a mix of practical bricklaying and theory work. Maths and English are built into the programme; if you already hold GCSE grade 4 or above in both, you'll be exempt from those elements. This level 2 bricklaying qualification takes one year to complete.

Who this course is for

You will cover a mixture of practical and theory work progressing from the skills developed at level 1. Please note maths and English are an integral part of this course. However if you already hold these qualifications at grade C/grade 4 and above then you will be exempt from studying for these qualifications.

What you will learn

  • You'll develop practical bricklaying techniques, progressing from Level 1 skills.
  • You'll lay bricks and blocks to set lines, levels, and profiles.
  • You'll construct walls, piers, and other masonry structures.
  • You'll read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • You'll apply health and safety practices on site.
  • You'll understand the properties and correct use of mortar and building materials.
  • You'll develop the maths and English skills needed in construction work (unless already exempt).

How you will learn

You'll learn through a combination of hands-on practical sessions and classroom-based theory. Assessment includes practical tasks where you demonstrate bricklaying skills to set standards, alongside written or knowledge-based assessments covering the theory elements. Maths and English are assessed as part of the programme unless you are exempt.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Moreton Morrell College will confirm anything else you need before you start.
