About this course

Free Level 2 Art and Design Course in Benfleet. Classes run at USP College Seevic Campus, full-time during the day.

The course is funded for 16 to 18 year olds. You'll work across graphic design, fine art, printmaking, sculpture, and photography. Studio work is central, and you'll also spend time in a computer suite developing digital imaging skills. Eight core units run across the year, covering everything from drawing and materials to solving creative problems in 2D, 3D, and time-based media. Assessment includes regular project reviews and two practical controlled tests.

You'll finish with a University of the Arts London Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design.

Who this course is for

Do you have artistic flair? This course will develop your practical art and design skills. Under the support and guidance of a team of specialist Art & Design lecturing staff, you will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language or Maths. At least one GCSE needs to be at grade 4 or above. You will be required to present a portfolio of artwork to a member of our team as part of the interview process.

What you will learn

  • You'll develop practical skills in graphic design and digital processes.
  • You'll explore fine art, printmaking, and sculpture.

How you will learn

You'll work primarily in the studio, completing practical projects and assignments based on workplace briefs. Some work takes place in a computer suite. Teachers assess your projects regularly throughout the year. Towards the end of the course, you'll sit two controlled tests. These are largely practical but also require you to annotate and evaluate your work. You'll also have the opportunity to work on live briefs with external clients.
