About this course

Free Level 1 Mental Health and Wellbeing Course in Sheffield. Classes run at CTS Training Sheffield, during the day with flexible scheduling. This free mental health and wellbeing course is government-funded through the ESFA. It takes around 12 hours in total. You'll build an understanding of mental health, common conditions, and how to support wellbeing in yourself and others. The level 1 mental health and wellbeing classes are designed for learners aged 16 to 19 years old, or 19 to 24 years old with an Education, Health Care Plan.

***RECRUITING NOW for 2026/2027*** - Are you aged 16-19? Or 19-24 with an Education, Health Care Plan, have evidence that you legally reside in the UK, are you a school leaver who didnt quite get the grades when you left school at or before year 11 or sixth form or college? No matter how well you did prior, we can help you get where you want to be on a CTS Study Programme to help you gain the qualifications & confidence you may need for the future.

What you will learn

  • You'll identify what mental health and wellbeing mean and why they matter.
  • You'll recognise common mental health conditions and their effects.
  • You'll understand the factors that can affect a person's mental wellbeing.
  • You'll explore ways to support your own mental health.
  • You'll learn how to respond helpfully when someone else is struggling.
  • You'll identify where people can go for mental health support and advice.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions at CTS Training Sheffield. Teaching is delivered face to face, with group discussion and tutor-led activities. Assessment is through a short written task or knowledge check, as required by the Highfield qualification. Your tutor will guide you through each topic during the 12 hours of study.
