About this course

Free Level 1 Employability Skills Course in Retford. Classes run at Retford Young People's Centre, full-time during the day.

The course is for 16 to 19 year olds, or up to 24 years old for those with a learning difficulty. You'll build job-seeking skills and gain work experience. The course also covers maths and English. It prepares you to move into a traineeship, internship, or apprenticeship.

You'll finish with an AIM Qualifications Extended Certificate in Employability Skills.

Who this course is for

This is a level 2 qualification in employability for 16-19 year olds (or up to 24 with learning difficulty) which is delivered at Retford YPC. The study programme provides activities to improve young peoples' job seeking skills, and provides work experience that prepares learners to move on to a traineeship, internship or apprenticeship. Our students will also study maths and english. The student will also be able to apply for a bursary and to claim student travel.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions at Retford Young People's Centre. The course includes practical activities and work experience placements. You'll be assessed through coursework and tasks that reflect real workplace situations. A bursary and student travel support may be available to help you attend.

The centre will provide most materials. Retford Young People's Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start.
