Free Level 1 Employability Skills Course in Walsall. Classes run at Nova Training Bloxwich, full-time during the day. This free employability skills course runs for 13 weeks. You must be aged 16 to 18 years old to enrol, and no previous experience is needed. The course covers the skills and techniques that help you find work, progress in a job, or move into further study. Employability Skills qualifications are designed to support an individual successfully gaining a job, progressing in a chosen field, preparing the individual for further study and supporting the development of techniques required for successful independent living.

This qualification is aimed at anyone who wants to live a more independent life, progress in education and/or their employment prospects; get into a job, develop on the job or move onto the next job, as they progress along the career ladder.

Entry requirements

Must be aged 16 to 18 and you don't need any previous experience in the industry already.

What you will learn

  • You'll develop job search skills, including how to find and apply for work.
  • You'll practise writing CVs and covering letters.
  • You'll learn how to prepare for job interviews.
  • You'll build skills for working with others in a workplace setting.
  • You'll explore how to manage your time and take responsibility for your own learning.
  • You'll develop skills that support independent living and day-to-day decision-making.
  • You'll identify your own strengths and areas to develop for employment or further study.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at Nova Training Bloxwich, five days a week during the day. Assessment is carried out through coursework and practical tasks completed during the course. There are no formal written exams. Your progress is reviewed throughout the 13 weeks to make sure you're developing the skills the qualification requires.
