About this course

Free GCSE English Language Course in Cannock. Classes run at Nova Training Cannock, full-time during the day. This course is for 16 to 19 year olds who previously achieved a grade 3 or grade D in GCSE English Language.

You'll develop your reading, writing, and communication skills over 13 weeks. The course uses a blended approach, combining classroom lessons with supported study and online learning. Topics include analysing texts, writing for different purposes, and spoken language.

You'll finish with a GCSE in English Language.

Who this course is for

Nova Training offer a GCSE (9-1) English Language - post 16 retake. This qualification is available to any learners who achieved a grade D or grade 3 in their GCSE English language at school. Nova Training offer a blended learning approach consisting of classroom based lessons with a GCSE Tutor, supported study in centres and e-learning via our e learning platform.

Course Content The course supports learners to develop their GCSE English Language Skills in preparation for either the Autumn or Summer retake windows provided by the examining body.

Entry requirements

Learners must be aged 16 to 19. As this is a retake qualification learners must have achieved a grade D or 3 in GCSE English Language previously.

  • You'll write for different audiences and purposes, including creative and transactional writing.
  • You'll develop your understanding of language and structure in texts.
  • You'll practise spoken language and communication skills.
  • You'll build skills in planning, drafting, and editing your written work.
  • You'll prepare for both the Autumn and Summer exam series.

How you will learn

You'll attend classroom lessons with a GCSE tutor. The course also includes supported study sessions at the centre and online learning through an e-learning platform. Assessment is by written exams set by Pearson Edexcel. There is no coursework component for this qualification.
