About this course

Free GCSE English Language Course in Wolverhampton. Classes run at Nova Training Bushbury, full-time during the day.

Who this course is for

Nova Training offer a GCSE (9-1) English Language - post 16 retake. This qualification is available to any learners who achieved a grade D or grade 3 in their GCSE English language at school. Nova Training offer a blended learning approach consisting of classroom based lessons with a GCSE Tutor, supported study in centres and e-learning via our e learning platform.

Course Content The course supports learners to develop their GCSE English Language Skills in preparation for either the Autumn or Summer retake windows provided by the examining body.

Entry requirements

Learners must be aged 16 to 19. As this is a retake qualification learners must have achieved a grade D or 3 in GCSE English Language previously.

  • You'll read and analyse a range of fiction and non-fiction texts.
  • You'll write for different purposes and audiences, including creative and transactional writing.
  • You'll develop your understanding of language and structure in texts.
  • You'll practise spoken language skills, including presenting and responding to questions.
  • You'll build exam technique for both reading and writing papers.
  • You'll use an online learning platform to support your classroom study.

How you will learn

You'll attend classroom lessons with a GCSE tutor and take part in supported study sessions at the centre. Online learning through an e-learning platform supplements your classroom work. Assessment is by Pearson Edexcel exams. There are two written papers covering reading and writing, plus a spoken language endorsement assessed separately.
